Park Run
Ohakune is now part of the global Park Run network.
We join 48 other events in NZ and over 2,000 around the world.
Junction Mahi NgĀTahi
Junction Mahi Ngātahi is a group of residents and ratepayers in the Junction area of Ohakune. Our Facebook page is designed to keep the group informed of RDC plans and any projects happening in and around the Junction. We have plans in place to beautify the Village Green gardens, improve safety on the Mountain Road/Thames Street corner with the help of LTNZ and RDC and generally encourage visitors to the Junction end of Ohakune.
Rangataua Community Hub
The Rangataua Community Hub project aims to revitalise Rangataua with a plans to create a community hub around Rangataua Hall including a reserve area, natural playground equipment, seating and native planting. Other Rangataua Community Hub projects include a new bus stop mural for the local school children to enjoy, a cycleway between Rangataua and Ohakune, and Fibre installation.
Ohakune Skatepark
We are aiming to meet the community’s request for a well designed outdoor Skatepark in Ohakune.
Ohakune Disc Golf
Disc Golf is a growing sport internationally.
Our course attracts visitors from far and wide, and is thoroughly enjoyed by our local community.
Adventure highway
A project to enhance and showcase our wonderful railway history.

Te Ara Mangawhero
Off road Grade 2 - 3 trail approximately 21.3km long from Tūroa (Massey Flat) to Ohakune (connecting to both the town and Ohakune Old Coach Road) two-way shared path taking cyclists (and walkers) through the spectacular flanks of Mt Ruapehu. The proposed new trails utilise sections of the Old Blyth Track, winds through Rimu Hill and makes the most of the old Bennett and Punch tramline.

A wonderful asset of our town - created and managed by volunteers over many years.
